The IntraLase® laser is used to perform what is known as IntraLase® LASIK, IntraLASIK, Bladeless LASIK, and All-laser LASIK. Each of these names are applied to the same safe and effective procedure, a procedure that uses IntraLase® laser technology to perform LASIK without the bladed microkeratome device used during traditional LASIK surgery. Our experienced eye care provider, Dr. Steven Chander, will help you determine which procedure is best for you, whether traditional LASIK, IntraLASIK, or another laser vision correction procedure. IntraLase® technology for IntraLASIK at our Southside Chicago practice serving Bridgeview, Hinsdale, and surrounding communities is another excellent laser vision correction option provided by our highly respected physician.
About IntraLase® Technology for IntraLASIK at our Southside Chicago Practice
During LASIK surgery, a flap is created in the eye's outer layer of tissue, the epithelial layer. When performing the IntraLASIK procedure at our Southside Chicago practice serving Bridgeview, Hinsdale, and surrounding areas, the advanced IntraLase® laser is used to create the flap, making the IntraLASIK procedure completely bladeless. After the flap is created, it is carefully peeled away from the surface of the eye. This allows the surgeon to then use an excimer laser to reshape the cornea. By reshaping the cornea and changing the way it directs light toward the retina, visual difficulties associated with myopia (farsightedness), hyperopia (nearsightedness), and astigmatism can be corrected. The result is a reduced or eliminated dependence on glasses and contact lenses.
The Benefits of IntraLASIK Surgery
Many of our patients from Southside Chicago, Bridgeview, Hinsdale, and other areas across the greater Chicagoland area have undergone IntraLASIK performed with the IntraLase® laser and achieved exceptional results. Having been performed over 500,000 times worldwide, IntraLASIK has been proven safe and effective. Our patients who choose IntraLase® technology for their LASIK procedure enjoy improved vision and the convenience that comes with increased freedom from glasses and contact lenses. Additionally, many patients feel uneasy about the bladed microkeratome device used during traditional LASIK surgery. While traditional LASIK, like IntraLASIK, is safe and effective, our staff is certainly sensitive to this and will fully explain your options to you.
