Laser Vision Correction

Laser vision correction is performed to treat refractive errors in the eye, thereby reducing or eliminating dependence on glasses and contact lenses. LASIK and other laser vision correction procedures correct for myopia (farsightedness), hyperopia (nearsightedness), and astigmatism.

LASIK

LASIK surgery is the most commonly performed laser vision correction procedure with over one million procedures performed in the United States each year.

IntraLase® Bladeless LASIK

IntraLase® laser technology is used to perform the LASIK procedure without the need for the microkeratome, the bladed device used in traditional LASIK surgery.

PRK

PRK surgery is an excellent option for those who, due to an injury or disease of the eye, are unable to undergo other laser vision correction procedures.

Eyeglasses and Contact Lenses

With more than two floors of eyeglasses to choose from at our practice, we are a leading Chicago-area provider of designer eyewear, from Daniel Swarovski to Dolce & Gabbana. At Primary Eye Care Associates, you can count on finding the style that is right for you.

Intraocular Lenses (IOLs)

To help our patients overcome cataracts and restore clear, fully functional vision, implantable intraocular contact lenses are provided at our Southside Chicago practice near Bridgeview and Hinsdale.

Vision Therapy

Boy reading book

Dr. Steven Chander is dedicated to providing advanced vision therapy to both children and adults. From computer vision syndrome to the treatment of what is commonly known as "lazy eye," providing relief to those requiring visual therapy is an important part of our practice.

Intacs® for Keratoconus

To picture how an Intacs® insert helps correct the corneal bulging associated with keratoconus, one can imagine a tent with a curved top. If the sides of the tent are pushed from the inside, the top of the tent will flatten. Intacs® inserts gently apply pressure to the cornea in much the same way, flattening excessive curvature to correct keratoconus and myopia. Intacs® corneal inserts are a less invasive alternative to laser eye surgery for those who are nearsighted or have keratoconus. Characterized by a thinning of corneal tissue and the eye's structure taking on a conical shape, keratoconus can cause blurred vision and other visual impairments. By adding ultra-thin ring segments within the surface of the eye without removing any corneal tissue, Intacs® inserts gently reshape the cornea to improve vision.

Pterygia

A pterygium is a benign growth on the eye's surface that typically extends from the corner of the eye and can cover part of the cornea. The condition is associated with excessive exposure to sun, wind, and dust. Symptoms can include persistent redness, inflammation, dry and itchy eyes, and even some degree of vision loss. Treatments vary depending on the severity of the condition and other factors. Rest assured, Dr. Steven Chander and our staff will help you understand this condition and its treatments.

Eye Condition Treatment

Dr. Chander provides treatment and management for debilitating eye conditions. These include:

If you suffer from any of these conditions, it is of paramount importance that you receive treatment as soon as possible.

Corneal Refractive Therapy

Corneal refractive therapy is provided by only a small number of eye care specialists. This safe and effective procedure can help patients who have moderate myopia with or without moderate astigmatism enjoy greatly improved vision, without the need for surgery. Using specially designed contact lenses to be worn while sleeping, corneal refractive therapy at our Southside Chicago practice serving Bridgeview, Hinsdale, and other areas can temporarily reshape your cornea throughout the night to help you enjoy clearer vision during the day. Ocular Nutritional Supplements

Like other systems within the body, the visual system needs the proper nutrients and vitamins to stay healthy. Our ocular nutritional supplements are designed to promote long-term ocular health by ensuring that the visual system receives the important nutrients it needs.

Optomap® Retinal Exam

Optomap

The Optomap® Retinal Exam is designed for the early detection of diseases that can affect not only eye health, but overall health as well. The system provides an ultra-wide field view of the retina. The retina is one of the first places to show signs of hypertension, diabetes, and other systemic diseases. Even cancer can be detected through analysis of the retina. Furthermore, the early detection of macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and other conditions, means the appropriate treatment or treatments can be sought early. As part of your regular eye exam at our practice, this sophisticated system generates a permanent record of year-to-year eye health, and allows our experienced eye care provider to quickly analyze changes in the eye.
